Message from the acting CEO

I am a born and bred Katherine Man, living in Katherine and surrounding communities my entire life for the past 43 years. I understand our communities, our culture and have earned trust and respect with our people over time. In our neighbouring communities, I have a wealth of knowledge in regards to the connections to land, to country and to our health. I am able to make a positive difference to the lives of our people, as I have lived and experienced what our people face and live with in todays society.

I have worked in many management capacities; such as Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet – Government Engagement Coordinator, Department of Health – Marketing and Promotions Manager, Department of Education – Regional Manager of Student Attendance (Big Rivers and Barkly Regions), Northern Land Council – Regional Manager. I have also been an Aboriginal Health Worker employed here at Wurli many years ago, undertaking my training both here at Wurli and through the Batchelor Institute. Through these positions I have gained an excellent knowledge of the culture not only here locally to Katherine but more broadly across our region and beyond. I understands what it means to put our people first and advocate on behalf of our Aboriginal People.

I understand the CEO role and the responsibility of advocating for our people and delivering the best service to our people. I am passionate about working with the Wurli-Wurlinjang Board and staff to ensure we deliver the best service possible.

I look forward to working with the current Board and our staff in achieving our goals, “To move forward as one, to heal our people and improve our health”
